Would Americans be shocked if they knew that?

Would Americans be shocked if they knew that London today is a far more violent place than New York was at it's worst in the mid 1980s? That teenage boys get hacked to death in Victoria Station in broad daylight in the rush hour, two minutes walk from Buckingham Palace? That our children are so out of control they kill each other over "respect issues"? That this question may well be censored because we're hosting the Olympics next year?
