How many people feel that taking your infant or child to a doctor is over-rated?

After reviewing views on breast-feeding vs. bottle (formula) feeding, I find that there are impartial people, fanatics on breastfeeding, and those who had no choice or just chose to bottle feed formula only. Tell me what you chose for your child and why. This pole is something of interest to me. I will rate and choose best answer. I ask this question because many people find that consulting with a lactation councilor is the optimal decision, and I want to find out how many people would prefer this route over a check-up with a pediatrician. Furthermore, why can't you do both?
