Is it possible to complete Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers?

Is it possible to complete the last part? I am told to go to the palace, and then as I go there the airship is about to crash, and you have to shake the Wiimote to stop it. No matter how much I shake the Wiimote, the airship crashes! Is there any way to fix this?
